Carnival Cruise Line Celebrates 35 Years of Sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida.
The company marked the occasion with a special event aboard the Mardi Gras ship, attended by local community representatives, including Canaveral Port Authority, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Brevard County officials. David German, Vice President of Business Development at the port, presented Carnival with a formal recognition scroll issued by the port council in acknowledgment of the company's economic contributions over 35 years of cooperation.
"Since being the first major cruise line to operate from the port in 1990, Carnival has grown to become a market leader, with over 1.2 million passengers departing from the location each year," the company noted in its statement.

We are just getting started – next month, Celebration Key, our new exclusive destination, will open and turn the experience into a true carnival."
Captain John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral, added: "Proud to mark 35 years of continuous operations by Carnival here – our longest business relationship. This partnership has brought tremendous economic value to the region and the entire state of Florida."
In addition to the celebrations, the company donated a hybrid pickup truck to the Keep Brevard Beautiful organization, dedicated to environmental protection in the area – a green gesture in honor of World Oceans Day, celebrated that same weekend.
Currently, four Carnival ships operate regularly from Port Canaveral, with an additional ship seasonally. In the near future, Carnival Festivale, a new sister ship to Mardi Gras, will join the fleet, offering among other attractions, one of the largest water parks in the fleet and music-themed activity areas. Its launch is planned for 2027.
Carnival offers a variety of cruises from Port Canaveral – from weekend trips to long voyages to exotic destinations like the Panama Canal. The port, located near Orlando, allows combining a cruise with a visit to local tourist attractions. With over 300 departures yearly, Carnival passengers contribute approximately $450 million to the local economy.
