VietJet's expansion plans.

The Vietnamese low-cost airline VietJet was scheduled to start operating a regular route between Vietnam and Israel by the end of 2023, but the 'Swords of Iron' war delayed the route's operation.

At the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport, the Vietnamese airline and Airbus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a large order of 100 single-aisle A321neo aircraft, including an option to add 50 more planes of the same model in the future.

VietJet currently operates a fleet of over 100 Airbus planes and continues to expand its global network and modernize its fleet.

The A321neo is the largest aircraft in the Airbus A320neo family, offering enhanced range and performance. By incorporating new-generation engines, the A321neo offers a 50% reduction in noise and more than a 20% saving in fuel and CO2 emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft.

"This new agreement marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with Airbus," said Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of VietJet, during the signing ceremony.

"These modern and efficient airplanes have played a central role in the growth of VietJet, helping us make flights more accessible and affordable for millions while strengthening our role in economic development, cultural exchange, and global connectivity. This historic agreement represents a crucial step in VietJet's growth strategy as an international aviation group," added the Chairwoman.
