The emergency situation and closure of airspace, due to a security scenario never before faced by the airline, has brought Israel's largest airline to conduct an unprecedented operation.

PassportNews has learned that the flight prices set by the company will be $99 for a one-way flight from Larnaca and $149 for flights from Athens to Ben Gurion Airport. Prices include checked luggage.

Ticket sales will commence once priority is given to passengers holding tickets for flights canceled with EL AL and for humanitarian cases. These cases will be reviewed by an external committee, independent of EL AL, including medical cases, attending funerals of first-degree relatives, and other instances.

As of today, the current plan does not allow for flights with wide-body aircraft, but only with narrow-body planes. This means that, for the immediate future, rescue flights from distant destinations such as New York or Bangkok will not be possible.

EL AL is expected to increase the pace of flights tomorrow, Thursday, June 19, after performing six flights today. The operational complexity, as mentioned, is unprecedented, and the security constraints are causing significant challenges in the routine operation of flights.
