Larnaca becomes a pivotal hub for Israelis returning home. Larnaca Airport in Cyprus is serving as a home base for thousands of Israelis returning home from Europe.
Larnaca Airport was ranked among the best in Europe during the recent general assembly of the Airports Council International Europe (ACI), held in Athens.
The airport, which received a "highly appreciated" rating, was ranked second in the category of airports handling 5-10 million passengers, following Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia.
"This recognition from ACI Europe emphasizes Hermes Airports' commitment to quality, connectivity growth, sustainability, and excellent passenger service," noted the management company.
Hermes CEO Eleni Kaloyirou said, "This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of our team and our dedication to continuous improvement. We remain committed to implementing our strategy to place Larnaca Airport on the map of Europe's leading airports."
The latest ACI Europe air connectivity report for 2025, published this week, ranked both Larnaca and Paphos Airports first among European airports in terms of growth rate, based on both the number of flights and total destinations.
Cyprus is ranked among the leading European countries in terms of direct air connectivity growth in 2025, with an 18% increase compared to 2024 and a 22% increase compared to 2019.
