As Israel currently lacks a direct flight to Canada, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, launches daily flights with its flagship A380 to the North American destination. This move increases flight capacity by 31% and reflects the company's strengthening position in the international market.
The first flight landed in Toronto last week, receiving a traditional water salute at Pearson Airport.
This initiative joins a series of efforts positioning Etihad for a record-breaking year with flights to over 100 destinations worldwide, new routes, one of the most advanced fleets in the industry, and award-winning service.
In May alone, the airline flew 1.7 million passengers, a 19% increase compared to May 2024, where 1.5 million passengers flew. The Passenger Load Factor rose to 87% from 84% last year, reaffirming Etihad's ability to maximize capacity while maintaining high demand.
Since the start of 2025, around 8.4 million passengers have flown with Etihad, a 17% rise compared to the same period last year (7.2 million). During this period, the airline maintained an impressive average load of 87%.
Etihad's active fleet now consists of 100 aircraft, including five cargo planes. This number excludes short-term leases (ACMI).
Etihad resumed flights to Israel last Thursday, establishing its status as one of the most prestigious international airlines.
The return to regular operations in Israel aligns with an extensive strategy of expanding ties with the Israeli market, offering a convenient connection via Abu Dhabi to a vast array of destinations.
