While there is currently no direct flight route from Israel to Canada, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, has launched daily flights with its flagship A380 aircraft to the North American destination, increasing flight capacity by 31% and reflecting the company’s strengthening in the international market.

The first flight landed in Toronto last week and was welcomed with a traditional festive water arch at Pearson Airport.

This step is part of a series of measures that position Etihad on the path to a record year with flights to over 100 destinations worldwide, new routes, some of the most advanced aircraft in the industry, and award-winning service.

In May alone, the company flew 1.7 million passengers, an increase of 19% compared to May 2024, when 1.5 million passengers were flown. The passenger load factor rose to 87%, compared to 84% last year – a figure that strengthens Etihad's ability to utilize capacity optimally while maintaining high demand.

Since the beginning of 2025, approximately 8.4 million passengers have flown with Etihad, an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year (7.2 million). During this time, the company maintained an impressive average load factor of 87%.

Etihad’s active fleet now includes 100 aircraft, including 5 cargo planes. This number does not include short-term leases (ACMI).

Etihad resumed its flights to Israel last Thursday, establishing its position as one of the most distinguished and luxurious international airlines.

The return to regular operations in Israel joins a broader strategy of expanding connections with the Israeli market and offering a convenient connection through Abu Dhabi to an extensive range of destinations.

In the absence of direct flights from Israel to Canada, this is an ideal alternative for the Israeli traveler: a combination of a top-tier flight experience, a comfortable and advanced transit station, and daily connectivity to Toronto – a key destination for business, tourism, and Jewish communities.

The Residence – Unparalleled Aerial Luxury in Canada

The Etihad A380, among the most luxurious in the world, is now operational on the North American route, offering a luxury flight experience:

The Residence – a three-room luxury suite in the air, featuring a private living room, bedroom, and bathroom with a shower.

First Apartments – fully enclosed cabins with a sleeping bed, personal chair, and premium fittings.

Business Studios – fully-flat seats with full aisle access and a unique in-flight lounge known as The Lobby.

Economy Smart Seats – an innovative seating arrangement with ergonomic support and additional legroom.

According to Arik De, the company’s Chief Revenue Officer: "Toronto was our first destination in North America in 2005, and the A380 embodies our commitment to providing passengers with an unforgettable flight experience. It’s not just an increase in capacity – it’s a statement of quality and excellence."

Stopover in Abu Dhabi – Special Offer for Etihad Passengers

Etihad offers a stopover program with free accommodation in select hotels in Abu Dhabi, enabling passengers en route to Canada (or back) to enjoy a luxurious vacation in the Emirati capital, relish the beaches, attractions, restaurants, and rich cultural heritage.
