Air travel resumed in northwestern Italy.

Traffic resumed after the ENAV regional control center in Milan Linate returned to active status. Passengers on canceled flights can proceed with new routes through channels and according to their airline's availability.

However, ITA Airways notes that there are still disruptions and interruptions to flights.

Earlier tonight, due to a severe failure in the radar system of the flight control center in northwestern Italy, strict restrictions were imposed on air traffic at several main airports in the area.

The failure directly affected Milan Linate, Turin, and Genoa airports, causing severe disruptions to aviation activity, including significant delays and cancellations of outgoing and incoming flights.

ITA Airways, Italy's flagship company, issued an official statement requesting passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport, through both the website and the official company app.
The company added: "Due to the radar system failure at Linate, affecting northwest airports, all departing and arriving flights are suspended until the technical issue is resolved. Further updates will follow."

According to industry sources, the critical failure prevented proper control over regional air traffic. Consequently, authorities were forced to temporarily shut down the airspace.

Airlines advised passengers flying to or from Italy to follow updates regularly. "Check the flight status with the relevant airline and do not arrive at the airport without confirming the flight is indeed taking place."

As updated effectively tonight (02:20) Israel time, the issue has been fully resolved, as reported on the x-page of Italian airports.
