The United States is celebrating today (July 4th) its 249th year of independence. Across the nation - from New York and the White House in Washington to Los Angeles in the east and through all the states, celebrations are expected to continue throughout the weekend, effectively until Monday morning.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) predicts that the number of travelers will reach an all-time high, as airports across the United States have already experienced congestion before the weekend. According to the agency's updated chart, six of the ten busiest airport days so far in 2025 have already occurred.

The TSA clearly indicates, "Travel is on the rise this summer, Summer 2025." For travelers heading to the airports these days, TSA advises: "If you're traveling soon, make sure to arrive early at the airport, ensure you have a valid ID, and don't forget to 'pack smart'."

As can be seen in the table, the day after the July 4th celebrations last year, July 7th, 2024, was the third busiest day ever at U.S. airports with approximately 3 million travelers.

The only busier days with higher passenger numbers than last year's Independence Day in the United States were January 12, 2024, after the Christmas and New Year holidays, when about 3.08 million passengers passed through U.S. airports.

On June 22 of this year, just about two weeks ago, an all-time record for the number of travelers was set - 3.097 million in one day.
