A message for tourists and residents in Athens. The Greek Ministry of Transport is launching a partial trial of 24/7 weekend public transport operation in the Greek capital for the first time ever.

This weekend marks the start of the pilot, essentially over one night (July 5-6). Depending on the response and other evaluated parameters, it may continue over the next weekends this month.

During the trial, two out of the city's three metro lines—Line 2 and Line 3—as well as the light rails (trams on Lines T6 and T7) and selected bus routes connecting key points in the Attica region will operate round-the-clock from Saturday to Sunday.

It should be noted that Metro Line 3, which reaches the airport during the day, will not serve the airport during night hours in this trial.

According to the Greek Ministry of Transport's announcement, "This initiative enhances the overall mobility experience in the city, offering a safe and reliable option for the public at all hours of the day. It's also a critical step towards upgrading urban transport services and improving Athens' accessibility."

Trial operation hours beyond regular hours:

Metro Line 2 from 02:00 to 05:30 (every 15 min)
Metro Line 3 from 02:00 to 05:30 (every 15 min)
Tram Line T6 and T7 from 01:40 to 05:30 (every 25 min)
