The Thai low-cost airline, Thai VietJet Air (VZ), has announced a new direct route from Phuket to Mumbai starting in August, in addition to its existing route from Bangkok to Mumbai.

Phuket is a popular destination for Indian tourists year-round, especially during festive seasons. For Thailand's residents, Mumbai offers a direct gateway to Western India and additional connections throughout the country via local airlines.

Thai VietJet Air states that it will offer the flights at exceptionally low prices.

The Phuket-Mumbai route will operate 4 times a week using Airbus A320 aircraft, which contain 180 seats. The flight duration is approximately 4 hours and 25 minutes. Flights will run every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

The new flights arrive at a time when demand for leisure travel between India and Thailand continues to grow.

The air corridor between India and Thailand is one of the busiest in Southeast Asia. Several Indian and Thai airlines operate direct flights between various Indian cities and Thai destinations like Bangkok and Phuket.

IndiGo is the largest Indian airline in this sector. The airline runs flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Chennai to Bangkok and Phuket.

IndiGo is also the only Indian airline that flies directly to Phuket from multiple Indian cities. Air India operates flights to Bangkok from Delhi and Mumbai and flies to Phuket from Delhi.

Thai Airways, Thailand's national airline, operates flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore, and maintains daily routes to Bangkok.
