Significant news for travelers to the U.S.
United Airlines will resume direct flights between New York (Newark) and Tel Aviv earlier than planned, returning to Israel on July 22.
The decision follows last month’s temporary resumption of service followed by a suspension due to Operation "With All Our Strength" and the subsequent closure of the skies. Now, following an agreement between the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and Minister Miri Regev, United will restart with daily flights and is expected to increase to two daily flights from July 23.
The renewal of this route significantly boosts the capacity of direct flights between Israel and the United States, particularly since currently only El Al and Arkia Airlines operate direct routes. Delta Air Lines, another American airline operating in Israel, announced the suspension of its flights to the country until the end of the summer - at least until August 31, without announcing any early resumption plans akin to United's at this time.
