Continuing Its Expansion in South Asia.
Marriott International has signed a comprehensive agreement with Ventive Hospitality, a luxury asset management company in India, to establish seven new hotels in India and Sri Lanka, as part of a total deal covering 1,548 rooms across five brands.
The agreement was signed in the presence of company executives, including Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott Asia Pacific (excluding China), and Atul Chordia, Chairman and CEO of Ventive Hospitality, along with other senior executives. All hotels are expected to open by 2030.
The agreement includes Marriott's first entrances into new markets, with properties in strategic locations across India and Sri Lanka. Key projects include: Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Pottuvil – the brand's first hotel in Sri Lanka, located on the country's eastern coast near the Israel-favored Arugam Bay and will feature 73 luxury villas, a spa center, nature and cultural experiences, and secluded resort amenities in a wild region.
The brand Marriott Hotels & Resorts will debut in Varanasi in northern India with a 161-room hotel featuring a pool, spa, and event halls, while Courtyard by Marriott will be established for the first time in Mundra, Gujarat, western India, with 200 rooms, a restaurant, spa, pool, and conference facilities.
Mumbai will host an integrated hospitality unit consisting of JW Marriott Navi Mumbai, with 450 rooms, a 2,000 m² conference center, and spa, alongside Moxy Navi Mumbai – a trendy hotel with 200 rooms, a bar, social spaces, and a fitness zone. The Moxy brand will also expand in Pune, with two new hotels – Moxy Pune Kharadi and Moxy Pune Wakad – jointly offering about 460 rooms targeting young and business travelers.
“Our strategy focuses on presence everywhere our guests wish to travel," noted Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for Asia Pacific, adding: "We are excited about the collaboration with Panchshil Realty and Ventive Hospitality, especially with the upcoming launch of Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Sri Lanka. The agreement strengthens our long-standing relationship with the group and we look forward to executing the projects."
Atul Chordia, Chairman and CEO of Ventive Hospitality concluded: "The collaboration strengthens the two-decade relationship with Marriott and positions us to expand beyond Pune, Bangalore, and the Maldives while maintaining responsible growth."
