Sky Express Expands Fleet: Exciting news comes from Sky Express, Greece's second-largest airline after Aegean, which continues its steady growth, rivalling its bigger competitor.
The company announced yesterday (July 10) the acquisition of 11 more Airbus A320neo aircraft, bringing its total fleet to 28 planes. The fleet consists of Airbus A320 family aircraft and ATR planes primarily used for domestic flights within Greece. Sky Express maintains this ensures the company has the youngest fleet in the country.
Just last week, the airline announced 5 new destinations it will service in the upcoming fall-winter season from Athens:
Berlin, starting October 16, with 4 weekly flights
Hamburg, starting October 24, with 3 weekly flights
Lisbon, starting October 24, with 3 weekly flights
Madrid, starting October 24, with 5 weekly flights
Lyon, starting December 15, with 2 weekly flights
Sky Express had previously expressed interest in exploring flights to Israel and appointed Tal Aviation as its representative in the country. Representatives have even held discussions with official aviation entities in Israel.
As part of its intentions to fly to Tel Aviv, the airline's representatives were supposed to visit the IMTM tourism exhibition in May this year. However, due to the security situation and the missile incident at Ben Gurion Airport, they canceled their visit but seemingly not their fundamental interest in flying to Israel.
