The African airline, Ethiopian Airlines, regarded as one of the fastest-growing and largest in Africa, has launched the new route from Addis Ababa to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. As reported by PassportNews, the new route will be operated four times a week, with a stopover in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
These flights mark Ethiopian's first entry into the Vietnamese market and are part of its strategic expansion in Southeast Asia, adding to 20 destinations in Asia.
The launch was celebrated at a festive ceremony at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, attended by senior government officials, diplomatic representatives, and company executives, including Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Group.
Tasew noted, "We are excited to launch flights to Hanoi, a city rich in culture and economy. This route connects Africa to the world and strengthens cooperation between Africa and Southeast Asia.
With a modern fleet and leading service, the new route will enable growth in tourism, business, and cultural relations between the continents."
Ethiopian currently operates 18 weekly flights from Israel. The new route to Hanoi offers convenient and diverse access for travelers and businesses interested in connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Hanoi, a city with a rich architectural heritage and many historical sites, is a significant and sought-after cultural destination, allowing Ethiopian passengers to experience one of Asia's most important cultural hubs.
The expansion of services between Africa and Asia reflects Ethiopian's vision to serve as a bridge between continents, cultures, and communities, offering a comfortable, modern, and quality connection across various destinations.
As a reminder, Emirates has crowned Vietnam as the star of the season with a 61% jump in flight searches compared to last year, with the Asian country earning the title "hot destination of the summer."
