Expanding flight routes from Romania. Wizz Air continues to expand its route network from Romania's capital, Bucharest, with the announcement of six new flight routes to destinations in Italy, Germany, Portugal, Poland, and Slovakia.
This announcement comes just days after the company disclosed the resumption of its route to Tel Aviv starting August 8, highlighting Wizz Air's ongoing investment in the Romanian market, one of its strategic markets in Europe.
The new routes from Bucharest's Otopeni Airport will lead to:
Porto - Portugal's second-largest city, nestled by the Douro River, combining culture, gastronomy, and breathtaking landscapes
Pescara - A serene coastal city on the Adriatic Sea, an ideal spot for a relaxed vacation
Brindisi - A historic city in southern Italy and gateway to the Apulia region
Cologne - A vibrant German metropolis and one of Europe's hubs for transport, business, and culture
Gdansk - A historic port city and tourist gem in northern Poland
Bratislava - The capital of Slovakia, with convenient access to Vienna and Budapest, offering plenty of local charm
The expansion of routes from Bucharest aligns with Wizz Air's growth strategy for 2025-2026, aiming to offer passengers an affordable, fast, and convenient alternative to expensive intra-European flights, with a focus on key cities and popular holiday destinations.
The Hungarian airline notes high demand on the new routes and invites travelers to be "among the first to spread their wings" with Wizz to the new destinations.
In doing so, Wizz Air continues to establish itself as a key player in the low-cost market of Central and Eastern Europe and strengthens Bucharest as one of its significant operational hubs, with increasing capacity and a local operational team.
