Ryanair's battle against European air traffic control continues.
After the published shaming documents about delays across continental airports, and calling for the resignation of the EU Commissioner, the ultra-low-cost airline urges Martin Rolfe, CEO of NATS, the UK air traffic control, to "fix the issues or resign".
According to them, just today (14.7), disruptions occurred in over 50 flights, affecting more than ten thousand passengers, primarily at Stansted Airport.
"It's unacceptable that UK passengers, many of whom are young families heading on summer holidays, suffer unnecessary delays due to another NATS system failure. Today's disruptions exemplify why NATS CEO Martin Rolfe is unfit for the role and should step aside for someone qualified to take charge."
"Reform Needed"
A Ryanair spokesperson further remarked: "It's unacceptable that passengers continue to suffer delays due to poor management. The UK Transport Minister, Heidi Alexander, must take immediate action to dismiss Martin Rolfe and reform the flawed air traffic control service of NATS, ensuring airlines and passengers aren't subjected to air traffic control delays."
The airline addressed passengers, saying: "We apologize to the passengers affected by the inconvenience caused. We encourage all passengers impacted by NATS air traffic control delays to visit the website 'Air Traffic Control Ruined Your Flight' and demand reform in UK air traffic control."
