Israir adds a new U.S. destination. The competition for the New York route intensifies. Minister of Transport Miri Regev announced today (July 16) that Israir has received a license to fly to New York, becoming the third Israeli airline operating on this route following El-Al and Arkia Airlines.

PassportNews has learned that the company plans to operate a daily flight, likely commencing between April and June 2026.

Internal discussions at Israir regarding the operation of this route, involving significant costs and the potential need for one or more leased aircraft, stretched over several months, culminating in the decision to open the route.

Transport Minister Regev stated: "This is an important step in strengthening competition, lowering prices, improving service, and expanding choices for the public. I thank Israir for accepting the challenge and joining me in this groundbreaking initiative, as well as the Director General of the Ministry of Transport and the head of the Civil Aviation Authority for their successful work."
