The Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago has declared a state of emergency due to a dangerous crime network

The government of the Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago declared a state of emergency yesterday (July 18) across the country following the discovery of a serious crime network that threatens government institutions and security. According to official reports, the network operates both from within prison facilities and outside of them, with its activities reportedly targeting government officials and key state institutions.

Following the declaration, there is an increased presence of police and military forces across the islands. The United States Embassy in the country issued an alert to its citizens, advising them to closely follow guidelines and remain alert to security developments.
