An aviation incident occurred Friday evening (July 18) at Charleston International Airport, South Carolina, when a All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight collided with the tail of a Breeze Airways aircraft during taxiing on the runway.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident happened around 10:15 PM (local time), when ANA Flight 9397 - a Boeing 787 without any passengers, carrying only the flight crew, was taxiing on the airport grounds and struck the tail of Breeze Flight 509, an Airbus A220, which was parked at the time.
There were passengers on board the Breeze flight, who were evacuated to the terminal by bus. No injuries were reported.
The FAA announced that it would open an investigation to examine the circumstances of the event. No further details have been released regarding the extent of the damage or delays to other flights. Passengers are advised to contact the airlines for further information.
