Extreme Weather Hits European Capitals. This week appears to be one of the most extreme in terms of weather conditions. As we reported this morning, Athens is expected to reach 40°C later this week.
The Greek government today issued special warnings for residents and tourists, recommending drinking plenty of fluids, eating light meals, wearing lightweight clothing, using sunscreen, and avoiding strenuous physical activity between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
But Greece isn't alone. The rest of Europe is also forecast to have some of the highest temperatures of the year so far. In Bucharest, the capital of Romania, record temperatures of 38°C are expected from Thursday to Saturday.

Cyprus is also experiencing extreme temperatures; however, due to the proximity of tourist cities to the beaches, Larnaca is expected to see "just" 37°C tomorrow (Wednesday) and between 34 and 35°C later in the week. However, in Nicosia, the capital, the continent's highest temperatures will be recorded, reaching 45°C on Thursday. Tomorrow (Wednesday), temperatures are expected to hit 43°C, and 44°C on Friday.

In Western Europe, the situation is completely different. London is between 24 and 26°C this week, with Paris experiencing highs of 21-23°C and lows of 15-16°C. The forecasted temperatures in Amsterdam and Berlin are similar.
