Aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is experiencing an exceptional boom.
This year, the new state airline 'Riyadh Air' will begin operations, having already started preparations and acquired a variety of new aircraft, with Riyadh as its main hub. Additionally, over the coming years, a new low-cost airline will be established in Saudi Arabia, based in the city of Dammam.
flyadeal, the low-cost airline based in Jeddah and a subsidiary of the national airline Saudia Airlines, received its first A320neo aircraft at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, the first of 30 to be delivered over the next three years.
During the aircraft acceptance ceremony, Stephen Greenway, CEO of flyadeal said: "An extraordinary moment of pride for the flyadeal family to now operate a fleet of 40 aircraft in less than eight years since our first flight. It is an amazing achievement, a major milestone, and we continue to expand vigorously to meet our growth targets."
The aircraft is the 40th from the A320 family for the company, and the first of 65 A320neo family aircraft ordered by 'Saudia', joining flyadeal's Airbus fleet.
flyadeal's A320neo is configured with 186 seats in economy class. Passengers will enjoy the widest single-aisle cabin offered, as well as the most modern cabin, providing optimal comfort for travelers.
The A320neo is the ideal aircraft for flyadeal and will allow the airline to efficiently enhance its operations and foster closer ties with countries throughout the region and beyond.
The A320neo family of aircraft integrates the latest technologies, including new-generation engines and aerodynamics, collectively delivering 20% fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions compared to previous-generation Airbus aircraft. According to Airbus, the A320neo family has already secured more than 7,400 orders from over 120 customers.
