FAA Investigates Unusual Aerial Incident on Southwest Airlines Flight in the U.S.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it has initiated an investigation following an unusual aerial event that occurred yesterday (Friday), July 25, at 11:00 AM (local time), on Southwest Airlines flight number 1496. According to the official statement, the aircraft received an automatic system alert regarding the presence of another aircraft nearby while flying in the Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center space.
The FAA stated that this is preliminary information and further details will be clarified. The company is cooperating with authorities.
According to reports from U.S. media, during the event, a sharp descent occurred causing minor injuries to two flight attendants.
It should be noted that in the past year, several serious safety incidents have occurred in the U.S., including a fatal collision between an American Eagle passenger plane and a military helicopter near Washington, claiming about 60 lives, a ground collision between two American Airlines planes, and a helicopter crash into the Hudson River in New York that killed six people.
