Munich Airport Kicks Off Summer. Munich Airport opens the official travel season for the summer with the start of the Bavarian summer holidays (August 1), expected to see impressive traffic records, with over 6.4 million passengers passing through the airport during the season.
The official statistics from airport management highlight the demand strength:
- Over 45,000 flight movements are expected throughout the summer
- In the first weekend alone, around August 1-3, approximately 425,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport
This summer, Munich is connected to about 210 destinations worldwide, across 67 different countries, making it one of the major and connected airports in Europe.
The Most Popular Destinations:
Italy - leads with approximately 420 weekly departures
Spain - in second place with about 320 flights every week
The USA, Canada, and Asia - together account for part of approximately 2,350 long-haul flights, with an emphasis on destinations like New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Bangkok, and Tokyo.
