Wizz Air has announced a significant expansion of its operations in Poland by adding a sixth aircraft to its Krakow base and a seventh aircraft to its Katowice base.

This move by the Hungarian airline, which will resume its flights to Israel exactly one week from today on 8.8.25, operating from Terminal 1 which will reopen on Sunday, represents a major improvement in travel options by launching 10 new direct routes to some of the most attractive destinations in Europe.

The two new aircraft are Airbus A321neo, among the most modern and efficient planes available.

These aircraft consume 20% less fuel, emit 20% less CO₂, and generate 50% less noise compared to previous generation models. Wizz Air currently operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with an average aircraft age of 4.58 years, two-thirds of which are A321neo.

In Krakow, the new Airbus A321neo will help launch 4 new routes: to Bilbao (Spain), Verona (Italy), Vilnius (Lithuania), and Tallinn (Estonia).

In Katowice, the company's seventh Airbus A321neo will enable the launch of 6 new routes: Porto and Faro (Portugal), Brindisi and Lamezia Terme (Italy), Brasov (Romania), and Maastricht (Netherlands).

Flights to Porto will commence on 26 October 2025, while all other new routes will begin in March 2026.

The expansion of operations at these two bases marks another major milestone in Wizz Air's long-term growth strategy in Poland.

In the first half of 2025, the company operated more than 32,000 flights to and from Poland, an increase of 9.3% compared to the same period last year.

Andras Szabo, the company's commercial director for Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, noted: "Krakow and Katowice are important bases for our operations in Poland. With the addition of new aircraft, we can now offer passengers from the Malopolska and Silesia regions a wider selection of exciting destinations - including Porto, Bilbao, Verona, Tallinn, or Brasov - all at affordable prices. We are proud to support the dynamic growth of these areas while making flights more accessible and environmentally friendly."
