Emirates, the flagship airline of the United Arab Emirates, which sponsors various clubs and sports events worldwide, has now signed a new 7-year sponsorship deal with Bayern Munich, Germany's flagship football club and six-time European Champions League winner.
Emirates and Bayern Munich announced that under this partnership agreement, the airline will become a 'Platinum Partner' of Bayern's senior football team from the 2025-26 season until 2031-32.
Bayern Munich is one of the most successful European football clubs, with a global fan base exceeding 140 million individuals. Bayern, a 34-time German champion, announced that the partnership includes extensive advertising at the 'Allianz Arena', the club's stadium, during all Bundesliga match days, as well as joint activities across both companies' social and digital channels.
The sponsorship includes prominent visibility of the Emirates brand in the stadium, exclusive ticket allocations, and hospitality, as well as a dedicated Emirates area in the stadium. The airline's branding will also feature prominently at the club's televised events, press conferences, interviews, and other public gatherings.
'We are very proud to partner with Bayern, Germany's most iconic football club and a true global sports giant. This landmark partnership represents much more than a commercial agreement. It embodies our deep commitment to Germany, a cornerstone of our European network,' said Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates.
He added: 'We look forward to building meaningful connections with Bayern's dedicated fans worldwide, celebrating excellence, a value that defines both Emirates and Bayern.'
'Bayern Football Club is very pleased to have won a strong and glamorous partner like Emirates, which has been a dedicated supporter of club football in Europe for decades. Bayern Football Club also needs financial planning to achieve its sports goals, and thus Emirates is the ideal fit for our club's partner family,' said Michael Diederich, Vice Chairman of Bayern Football Club.
The new sponsorship agreement expands Emirates' portfolio of sports groups with which it now collaborates.
Since 2001, Emirates first sponsored Chelsea, then Milan since 2007, Real Madrid since 2011, and Benfica Lisbon since 2014.
Emirates has been associated with the London club Arsenal for 19 years, including naming the club's stadium after the airline.
In addition to football, Emirates is also active in other sports, such as sailing, cricket, golf, rugby, and tennis, and sponsors all Grand Slam tennis tournaments.
