The eagerly awaited Star of the Seas by cruise giant Royal Caribbean made its first appearance yesterday (Saturday) morning at the port of Cape Canaveral, Orlando, Florida.

The massive ship, weighing 248,633 tons, will begin cruises starting August 16.

'Vacationers and families of all ages can create experiences and memories across eight different neighborhoods on the ship, with the boldest entertainment at sea, culinary and drink experiences on a new level, thrilling and adrenaline-packed attractions, and unparalleled relaxation options,' the company states on its website.

Let's note that the iconic singer, Diana Ross, is the official godmother of the new luxury ship and will take part in the traditional naming ceremony, blessing the ship, the crew, and future passengers as part of the maritime tradition of protection and blessing for new vessels. The ceremony will occur during the ship's festive launch event.

The new ship, built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, is a sister ship to the Icon, which entered service in 2024. It features more than 2,800 rooms, 40 bars, and restaurants, along with a host of family-friendly attractions, including the largest water park at sea, an ice skating rink, laser tag, escape room, and extensive play areas for children of all ages.
