EasyJet announced the immediate suspension of a pilot operating the London-Sal flight to Cape Verde, after he was found intoxicated and wandering nude in a local hotel's facilities during an overnight stay.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (5.8) at a hotel in the south of Sal Island.
According to reports, the pilot, who had flown in from London the previous day, spent the evening drinking heavily and walked naked around the hotel at night.
Guests on-site identified him and reported the incident to EasyJet.
In an official response to PassportNews from EasyJet: "Upon hearing of the incident, the pilot was immediately suspended, following our protocols, pending investigation. The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet's top priority."
Cape Verde is a major holiday destination for EasyJet, and last month added six routes to the destination.
The expansion includes new flights from Lisbon and Porto to Boa Vista, Praia, and São Vicente, as well as a new route from Milan to Sal Island, bringing the total number of active routes for the company to Cape Verde to ten.
The company will offer over 210,000 seats in the 2025 winter season, increasing its capacity between Portugal and the islands by 225%.
