New Rapid Flight Route. Wizz Air has announced the launch of a new fast route connecting Slovakia's two largest cities, Bratislava and Košice. The flight duration will be approximately 35 minutes, compared to a five to six-hour drive or train ride.
Wizz Air states that the new route is part of a broader investment in strengthening local transport infrastructure, creating efficient links between western and eastern Slovakia, and expanding options for businesses, students, and tourists. "The new flight will save travelers valuable time and provide a quick and convenient connection between the two main cities in the country," the company said.
Košice, the country's second-largest city, is considered the cultural capital of eastern Slovakia. At its center stands St. Elizabeth Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in Central Europe, surrounded by a bustling pedestrian street with cafes, restaurants, shops, and galleries.
The city offers a wealth of cultural experiences including international festivals, theaters, museums, and a vibrant nightlife. Additionally, it serves as an ideal starting point for trips to the Carpathian Mountains and green nature reserves, and has recently developed as a technological and academic hub attracting both young people and tourists alike.
Slovakia has continuously grown as a tourist destination in recent years.

Last year saw a significant increase in the number of Israelis choosing Slovakia for vacations, amid a search for alternatives to crowded and expensive destinations in Western Europe and the aforementioned expansion of direct flights.
The new route between Bratislava and Košice is expected to ease domestic passenger movement, encourage tourism, and enhance commercial and cultural ties between Slovakia's two major regions. This aligns with the broader trend of developing the country's infrastructure and strengthening its position as a sought-after destination in Europe, also among Israelis.
