Photo: Berlin Brandenburg Airport Enhanced Screening Efficiency. If you have flown through Berlin's airport, you're likely familiar with the long lines en route to having your hand luggage screened. A new solution may now save travelers significant time.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) announced yesterday (August 27) that both its terminals (1 and 2) are now equipped with 24 advanced CT scanner stations. Completion of this transition was ahead of schedule. The airport reminds travelers that they can use the screening stations at either terminal, irrespective of their travel destination.
The key benefit is that passengers no longer need to remove electronic devices or liquids from their carry-on bags.

For now, the directive is to continue limiting liquid quantities to containers of a maximum of 100 ml, totaling one liter per passenger.
Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of the airport: "I am very pleased that we managed to complete the refurbishment of the security lines in the northern area of Terminal 1 ahead of time. The last few weeks have shown that the investment and effort put into the renovation were worthwhile. The vast majority of passengers were able to pass through the security checks with wait times of less than ten minutes, allowing them to start their vacations worry-free."
