With a Suite Over 1,000 Square Meters, and Seven Restaurants in a Building from 1792: The New "Palace" of the Four Seasons Chain
In an 18th-century building on the Atlantic Ocean shore, the luxury hotel chain has launched the Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr in Rabat, Morocco. With a suite over 1,000 square meters, 7 restaurants, and a lounge in a building from 1792, your next vacation could make history.
"Palace by the Sea," just three words transformed by the meticulous hands of the Four Seasons Hotel chain managers into one of the most stunning projects recently inaugurated on the African continent and surely one of the dazzling luxury complexes showcased.
Meet the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr in Morocco, which just opened this month on the Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
The palace, sorry, the hotel, is located in a royal house built in the 18th century. It is combined with lush gardens, relaxation and treatment areas, making the immense structure a home for every guest. An oasis in its most luxurious definition you can imagine, in the heart of Morocco's "City of Lights."
"Rabat is a city whose moment has come," says the CEO of Four Seasons, Gregory Viaud: "The hotel's launch reveals a new era of luxury and glamour, while building our reputation on personal service with a true heart. Our team can't wait to welcome our guests and the local residents who will come to this historic landmark in a city that has undergone a complete transformation."
The hotel's oceanfront location is especially convenient, with guests just a few minutes' walk from the kasbah (the central point of every city), the authority offices, and important businesses in the city.
Reaching the hotel from Rabat-Salé Airport will take about half an hour, but if you land at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, the drive will take about an hour and a half.
If you choose to travel from Casablanca to Rabat by train, you'll embark on a swift journey lasting only 45 minutes. Wild Tangier is just an hour and 20 minutes away by train, if you choose to continue from here to an African adventure.
A Destination that Combines History and Emotion
The launch of the Four Seasons Hotel is essentially the beginning of a new chapter for Kasr Al Bahr – "the Palace by the Sea," built in the 18th century as the summer palace of Moroccan Sultan Moulay Suleiman.
The property later became a military hospital and now, thanks to the restoration and preservation work of the Four Seasons team, the place has returned to serve as a high-level hospitality, accommodation, and culinary complex.
The site is situated on an area measuring about 50 acres, including a total of eleven buildings – five completely new and six historical – that balance historical details with chic and modern design.
"We are excited to be involved in the palace's development inspired by 18th-century architecture," said Modon Holding, CEO Bill O'Reagan: "Our shared commitment to innovation and excellence in the new hotel will create phenomenal interest and enable unforgettable experiences."
Jassem Mohammed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, chairman of Modon Holding, said: "Rabat, with its rich history and cultural heritage, stands as a beacon for travelers seeking an authentic and unforgettable experience and is poised for an amazing future as a leading tourist destination. We are proud to contribute to the growth and development of this magnificent city, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and warm hospitality, which will continue to captivate the hearts of tourists from around the world."
Ever Slept in a Sultan's Bed?
The new hotel in Rabat offers a variety of accommodation options: 200 guest rooms and suites – most with balconies or terraces, and many rooms offer breathtaking views of the ocean.
Some of the hotel suites are upgraded and include a rooftop terrace or a private pool.
The pinnacle among the palace rooms is the luxurious Sultan Riyadh – located in the original residence of the Sultan built in 1792, now fully restored and expanded.
The Sultan Suite spans two floors over 1,000 square meters, features three bedrooms, fully equipped and designed interiors, and of course, a private terrace and infinity pool.

The hotel features the Marie Brasserie serving French cuisine, Verdello focusing on Mediterranean and Italian delights served on a terrace with a beautiful view, and the Flamme restaurant overlooking the pools and offering a variety of oven-baked dishes like fresh bread and pizzas in a local style.
In the lobby lounge, you'll find Noora, a great spot for an afternoon coffee or tea, alongside the Atlantic Bar showcasing the best international cocktail trends, served by creative mixologists.
Laila Lounge is hidden inside the oldest building in the palace and provides a unique atmosphere for celebrations, events, parties, and performances. Here too, you can of course sip a cocktail and think of yourself as a great sultan.
Find Peace in the Moroccan Hammam
In addition to the culinary and drink venues, the hotel prides itself on being a "health retreat" in the heart of the bustling city, with a view of the ocean and no less than 10 private treatment rooms, a traditional Moroccan hammam, a fully equipped beauty salon, and stunning saltwater and indoor pools. The complex also includes two outdoor pools, one in the style of known resorts and one infinity pool that blends perfectly with the ocean in front of it. All this is wrapped in hundreds of palm, olive, and citrus trees.
If you insist on exercising, you'll also find a gym, including an outdoor terrace used for yoga classes. A special area is also allocated here for young guests, featuring attractions and activities tailored to their age.
