It’s been brewing for a long time, but now it is official: The airline giant and one of the best companies in the world, Emirates, is launching flights to Israel next month. The award-winning airline, based in Dubai, will operate direct flights to Israel starting December 6.
In January 2021, Emirates announced its intention to become an important player in the Israeli aviation market and was the first company from the United Arab Emirates to register with the Israel Registrar of Companies.
Founded in 1985, Emirates is considered one of the best airlines in the world year after year, has won hundreds of awards and is ranked at the top of various product and service categories in the international aviation industry.
Emirates’ new route will operate daily, and this dramatic move will have a significant influence on the Israeli aviation world since it will offer the Israeli public a huge variety of connecting flights to destinations all over the world from its hub in Dubai, offering a competitive product and service proposition, coupled with its extensive network, especially in the Far East.
Dubai, in itself, has become and will continue to be a desirable destination both for leisure and business travel from Israel.
Always aiming to provide the safest and best possible travel experience, particularly during a turbulent time for international travel, Emirates has invested resources to accelerate and deliver innovative new customer services, ensure the health and safety of its customers and employees, and provide the most updated travel information for customers worldwide. In addition, Emirates recently announced that it plans to boost its operational workforce by recruiting more than 6,000 employees over the next six months.
As travel restrictions are eased worldwide, and with significant development in vaccines, the company will need more pilots, cabin crew, maintenance experts, and ground operation. Nevertheless, the UAE flag carrier has already resumed more than 90% of its pre-pandemic network and aims is to reach 70% of its pre-Covid capacity and return over 50 of its iconic A380s back into operation by the end of 2021.
Emirates is currently operating its 151 strong fleet of Boeing 777s and will be operating 50 A380s soon, meaning the carrier has the largest fleet of Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s in the world. In 2019, the company flew close to 59 million passengers to and through Dubai.
Emirates is arguably the most recognized airline brand in sports today and is the primary sponsor for some of the world’s leading football clubs, including Arsenal, whose home stadium is Emirates Stadium, Italian AC Milan, football giant Real Madrid, and the Portuguese champions Benfica. The airline is also a major supporter of other sports and major international tournaments such as horseracing, cricket, tennis, rugby, golf, among numerous others.
In addition, Emirates Flight Catering, together with CCL Holdings, established Kosher Arabia – a company producing kosher food in Dubai, capable of distributing over 2,000 kosher meals a day.
The GSA company that has been appointed to represent Emirates in Israel is Open Sky. Ephraim Fortis, CEO and owner of Open Sky, confirmed the news saying, “We are delighted and honored to represent an airline such as Emirates, one of the most prestigious airlines globally, and we are confident that Emirates will become a very sought-after airline within Israel.”
