Israel sending a search & rescue delegation to Miami

Defense Minister Benny Gantz has approved a search-and-rescue delegation following the collapse of a residential building in Surfside, North Beach. Gantz: “We will spare no effort to save human lives and support the Jewish community and our American friends."

Defense Minister Benny Gantz, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approved the deployment of a Home Front Command delegation to assist in the rescue and treatment of the victims in the Miami tragedy.

Following discussions over the weekend between defense officials and the IDF, as well as representatives of the governor in Miami, and in coordination with the State Department, Defense Minister Gantz approved sending a delegation of experts in engineering and emergency medical care.

According to Minister Gantz: “As in every national mission, the IDF and the defense establishment are prepared to respond, act and help. We will spare no effort to save human lives and support the Jewish community and our American friends.” 

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid added, “The State of Israel has no better friend than the United States, and the United States has no better friend than Israel. In such difficult moments, we stand with our American friends and the Jewish community in Florida. The swift and efficient response of Israeli defense forces and the Foreign Ministry is a badge of honor for the State of Israel.”
