Today (Monday), Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) reached an agreement with insurance companies regarding flight insurance coverage to continue its flights over Ukraine’s airspace. It was essential for the Ukrainian authorities to continue the scheduled flights of the Ukrainian national carrier, and UIA received the news with great satisfaction.
Due to the tension in the region and the imminent fear of a Russian invasion, insurance companies wanted to drop their insurance coverage of flights over Ukrainian airspace, a move that would have caused severe disruption to flights to and from Ukraine.
Caspi Aviation, representing UIA in Israel, also expressed satisfaction with the agreement, noting that it was reached after some heated discussions between the top management of UIA, backed by the Ukrainian government after it allocated 16.6 billion hryvnias ($592 million) to ensure flight safety and satisfy the insurance companies. As mentioned above, the agreement reached will allow the national carrier to continue its scheduled flights during this crisis.
According to Caspi Aviation, UIA will release more updates in case of changes in the current situation.
