Turkish Airlines unveils a new global ad campaign centered around the concept of Pangea – what was a single and connected supercontinent millions of years ago. Starring Oscar winner Morgan Freeman and using his strong narrative presence and iconic voice, the campaign puts forth an inspiring message about reunification and reconnection between people and their worlds. The new commercial debuts online on February 10 and will air during the second quarter of Super Bowl LVI on February 13, 2022.
The campaign’s concept offers a ‘We are all connected’ message by paying homage to Turkish Airlines’ extensive network as a global carrier flying to more countries than any other airline. And while the supercontinent of Pangea no longer exists, the airline wishes to communicate the message that its objective is that of making us feel closer and bringing us together.
Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, commented: “After months of creative ideation and production, we’re glad to share our Pangea campaign that features Morgan Freeman with the world during the most-watched sporting event on the global calendar. Travelers are increasingly hopeful and enthusiastic to safely explore new destinations or reunite with loved ones, and as a leading global airline, we hope to spark inspiration and instill confidence as we strive to reconnect the world.”
The campaign began production in September 2021 and was shot on location in Istanbul and New York. The resulting commercial also features computer-generated animation scenes that depict continents and landmasses reconnecting, bringing Pangea back to life in an arresting visual way.
“This is the brand’s sixth ad that will be featured at the Super Bowl,” said Turkish Airlines’ statement. The Super Bowl, one of the most-watched sports events worldwide, is a highly coveted commercial slot, and the new Pangea ad will be aired alongside a lineup of some of the world’s other most recognizable brands.
