Intense preparations not enough. Residents of Hong Kong and Taiwan were not prepared for the immense damage caused by Super Typhoon Ragasa.

Hong Kong International Airport has been closed for both departures and arrivals due to severe weather conditions. According to reports, hundreds of flights have been canceled, and airlines have only partially managed to evacuate their aircraft to prevent potential damage.

Taiwan reported winds at a speed of 120 km/h, heavy rainfall that resulted in severe flooding across many areas, and huge waves that struck several regions. According to local media, at least 14 people have died due to the storm and its aftermath, with many still missing. The storm has also caused a large lake to overflow.
