Global airline leader with thousands of daily flights to over 350 destinations in 60+ countries, American Airlines, and Porter Airlines, the Official 4 Star economy airline company in the World Airline Star Rating, have agreed on a new codeshare partnership that will provide additional ways to travel between the U.S. and Canada.

Starting today, September 30, 2025, passengers can book their preferred codeshare itineraries for flights via the American Airlines' official website or mobile app, or using Porter’s online portal.

American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Global Alliances, Anmol Bhargava: “Canada is one of the most popular destinations for travelers, and American is excited to partner with Porter Airlines to unlock more travel options for customers. This partnership puts customers at the forefront, and we look forward to providing even more seamless transborder travel options together.”

Porter Airlines’ Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Edmond Eldebs, expressed a similar opinion, explaining the new deal provides “a true competitive alternative for passengers” looking for more flying options connecting Canada and the United States.

Miles and Loyalty Points for AAdvantage Members

Select flights operated by Porter from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) will carry American’s code, enabling AAdvantage members to collect miles and Loyalty Points.

American is currently flying more to YYZ than any other carrier in the U.S., with more than 25 daily peak flights. The new partnership will include additional options for passengers, including Porter flights between Toronto and Phoenix, and more transborder routes on the way.

Beyond Toronto, American also provides nonstop service to Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver, along with seasonal flights to Halifax and Quebec City. The new agreement will open the door to a larger number of Canadian destinations, allowing travelers to explore familiar cities or visit brand new locations for the first time.
