Investigation Launched After Two Delta Planes Collide at LaGuardia Airport

An unusual incident occurred at LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday evening, with two Delta Airlines planes colliding during taxi flights; one attendant was injured; Delta: 'Safety is a top priority.'

Two Delta Connection planes, operated by Endeavor Air, were involved in a collision at New York's LaGuardia Airport on October 1st, at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

Departing flight Endeavor Air 5155 was on its way to take off for Roanoke, Virginia, in a CRJ-900 aircraft with two pilots, two flight attendants, and 28 passengers.

Arriving flight Endeavor Air 5047 was heading to its gate from Charlotte, North Carolina, in a CRJ-900 plane with two pilots, two flight attendants, and 57 passengers.

Preliminary information indicates that the wing of the departing plane grazed the body of the arriving plane. All passengers were returned to the terminal via buses, provided with food and drinks, and offered hotel accommodations and hospitality vouchers. Arrangements for re-flights were made for October 2.

According to the report, one flight attendant was injured and treated by emergency teams. Passengers did not suffer any reported injuries.

In a statement for PassportNews, Delta Airlines said: “Delta teams at LaGuardia worked to ensure our customers were properly cared for after the collision. The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”

Delta is fully cooperating with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, and other authorities to examine the circumstances of the incident.
