On October 9, Etihad Airways launched a new daily route between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Addis Ababa (ADD) in Ethiopia. The inaugural flights were fully booked in both directions, reflecting strong demand for travel between the two capitals. The new route will operate twice daily using A320 and BOEING 737 aircraft.
This route is Etihad's first entry into Ethiopia and strengthens Abu Dhabi's position as one of the world's fastest-growing aviation hubs. The launch coincides with the official activation of a groundbreaking joint venture between Etihad and Ethiopian Airlines, announced earlier this year. This partnership enhances cooperation between the two airlines and extends connectivity across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The agreement also paves the way for broader collaboration in loyalty programs, training, and cargo.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways: "The launch of our daily flights to Addis Ababa creates a bridge between two regions with expanding ties and evolving economic relationships. It also marks the official start of our groundbreaking joint venture with Ethiopian Airlines, a partnership that will redefine connectivity between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Together, we are creating more opportunities for trade, tourism, and cooperation, while giving our guests access to an even broader network through our hubs in Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa."
