Ryanair steps in to assist thousands in the UK left stranded.

On Wednesday (October 29), low-cost giant Ryanair launched special "rescue" fares starting at £29.99 for passengers affected by yesterday's dramatic announcement from Eastern Airways about ceasing operations and canceling all flights.

The sudden announcement forced thousands of travelers to look for alternative transportation, mainly via trains and buses on routes significantly affected by the airline's closure. Several train companies in the UK have announced they will allow Eastern passengers to travel for free in the coming days upon showing a ticket or booking confirmation, and now Ryanair offers a solution of its own.

One of the primary canceled routes is between London (Gatwick) and Newquay Airport, the main airport serving Cornwall in the southwest of England. Ryanair is offering affected passengers discounted tickets on its regular route between London (Stansted) and Newquay, operating six times a week, starting at £29.99.

"Ryanair, Europe’s reliable and low-cost airline, once again saves the day," stated Jade Kirwan, the company's communications manager. "With rescue fares from £29.99 on flights operating six times a week between London Stansted and Newquay. The offer is available for Eastern Airways passengers affected by the sudden cessation of the flight route between London Gatwick and Newquay. Rescue tickets can be booked now on the company's website."
