Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has achieved Level II certification, the highest level attainable in initial certification, under the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Security Management System (SMS) program.

The achievement makes Wizz Air the first low-cost carrier and the second European airline to achieve this level of recognition. The SeMS program, developed by IATA, promotes a culture of security in the aviation industry. The certification reflects Wizz Air's proactive approach to aviation security and its alignment with best practices.

The company notes that "this success is made possible by the company's security and resilience team."

“Achieving SeMS certification is a milestone that underlines our commitment to operational excellence and a proactive safety culture. Our teams will continue to build on this strong foundation to further strengthen safety management across the Wizz network,” said Diormid O’Congaille, Wizz Air's Chief Operating Officer.
