United Airlines is launching a new collaboration with Lyft, enabling passengers to earn miles on Lyft trips, including those booked through the Lyft app.

United's MileagePlus frequent flyer club members will be able to link their Lyft account and earn miles based on the type of trip they choose.

According to the agreement, members will receive:

- 4 miles per dollar on pre-booked travel to airports.

- 3 miles per dollar on Extra Comfort, Lyft Black, and Black SUV rides, as well as on non-reserved rides to airports.

- 2 miles per dollar on business travel through the company profile.

- One mile per dollar on regular trips (Standard, Priority Pickup, XL).

- Additionally, new riders who sign up for Lyft, link their MileagePlus account, and take two trips within 30 days, will receive 1,000 bonus miles.

Brian Irving, Lyft's VP of Marketing: "This collaboration embodies our brand purpose, to serve and connect. Many of our customers use Lyft on their way to the airport, and now they get added value on trips they already make."

According to the companies, starting in early 2026, MileagePlus members will also be able to redeem miles directly in the Lyft app for travel, and receive automatic flight alerts and ride reminders.

Richard Nunn, CEO of MileagePlus at United, added: “This is the first step towards creating a seamless and seamless travel experience, from the moment a traveler leaves home to their destination. Integrating Lyft into the MileagePlus system gives travelers more ways to earn and redeem miles, and connects all parts of their journey into one more rewarding and convenient experience.”

Lyft users who link their MileagePlus account will also be able to enjoy a variety of additional club benefits, including miles that do not expire, no blackout dates, the ability to purchase tickets with a combination of miles and cash, cancel or change flights without penalties, and the ability to merge miles with family and friends.

As published yesterday on the PassportNews website, the new MileagePlus debit card allows club members to earn miles on everyday purchases and account balances, with a monthly fee waiver for holders with an average balance of $2,000 or more.
