Moderate earthquake shakes Greece’s beautiful Lefkada Island. On November 17, 2025, residents of the island located off the western coast of the country, south of Corfu, reported an earthquake in the late morning hours, at around 11:45 AM.

According to official reports from the European Seismological Institute and the Greek Seismological Institute, the earthquake's magnitude was moderate and stood at 4.1

Just four days ago, two earthquakes were felt within a few hours of each other in southwestern Cyprus. The tremors, both measuring more than 5, were felt strongly in Limassol and Paphos.

Experts tried to reassure the population by issuing local media statements saying there was no fear of stronger tremors.

Residents said they were considering packing their bags and evacuating for fear of more powerful earthquakes. The second quake, which occurred in the afternoon, reported falling objects and a well-felt tremor.
