On Friday, November 28, a glitch was discovered in the systems of Airbus A320 aircraft, one of the most popular models in the world, requiring an immediate update for more than 6,000 aircraft worldwide. At the time, Airbus was expecting delays and flight cancellations over the weekend.

Now, Airbus has said that the repairs are nearing completion. According to the provided data, of the approximately 6,000 aircraft that could have been affected, the vast majority have already undergone the necessary adjustments. Now, fewer than 100 aircraft are still in the update process, with the manufacturer working with the companies to return them to service as soon as possible.

Airbus admits that the move has caused logistical challenges, delays, and operational disruptions for airlines worldwide, but emphasizes that the decision to take these steps stems from prioritizing passenger safety above all other considerations.

Airbus chief executive officer Guillaume Faury posted on his official LinkedIn account: "The fix required on some A320 aircraft has been causing significant logistical challenges and delays since yesterday. I want to sincerely apologise to our airline customers and passengers who are impacted now. But we consider that nothing is more important than safety when people fly on one of our Airbus Aircraft, like millions do every day."

"Our teams are working around the clock to support our operators and ensure these updates are deployed as swiftly as possible to get planes back in the sky and resume normal operations, with the safety assurance you expect from Airbus."
