Flights from London City Airport to Madrid are back.
British Airways Cityflyer resumed the London-Madrid route on Tuesday (December 2, 2025). The service will now operate 11 weekly flights from the developing airport in the heart of London, to one of Europe's most vibrant cities.
To mark the first flight, the boarding gate hosted a festive Spanish-style event with traditional music. Chef José Pizarro and his team also served passengers familiar Spanish dishes.

The new Madrid route joins a wider seasonal network that British Airways is operating this winter, which includes a partial return to Innsbruck and the resumption of popular ski flights to Geneva and Chambéry. Passengers can also reach ski destinations via Milan and Zurich, alongside regular flights to San Sebastian and Ibiza. According to London City Airport, demand for holiday destinations such as Dublin and Rome is on the rise.
London City is considered one of the UK's most developed and passenger-friendly airports. It has previously been voted the best airport in the UK by readers of Conde Nast Traveler and the best airport in London in other rankings. The short transfer times, which can be as short as 10 minutes from the entrance to the boarding gate, along with easy access to the city centre by the DLR train, reinforce its position as the most connected and convenient airport in London.
According to London City management, leisure flights currently account for around 60% of activity and are expected to continue to grow. In January 2025, London City Airport submitted an application to the Civil Aviation Authority to operate A320neo aircraft from it, a move designed to expand the range of destinations and the number of passengers that will pass through the airport
