The new European Union Entry/Exit System (EES) will come into effect at Krakow Airport starting today (December 4, 2025).
This marks the second phase of Poland tightening its borders, following the earlier introduction of the system in Warsaw.
Later, the ETIAS visa, which will be required to enter EU countries, will also come into effect.

During the first entry, passengers' biometric data, including fingerprints and a facial image, along with the date and place of entry, will be recorded. On subsequent visits, only a quick identity verification will be required.
The EES system is expected to replace traditional passport stamping at all external borders of the European Union from April 10, 2026, with the aim of improving security and detecting overstays or false documents.
