"In my campaign for President, I pledged to give America the most spectacular birthday party the world has ever seen for America's 250th anniversary on July 4th next year."
This is how United States President Donald Trump opened a recent statement just before the end of 2025 and the start of 2026, which will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence.
"Already we've had big celebrations to commemorate the 250th birthdays of the Army, the Navy, and the United States Marines, but there is much, much more to come. As 2026 rolls around, Americans across the country will be able to see the statue of George Washington lit up in festive birthday colors, in honor of the star of this special year. We're going to have a good time."
So What's Going to Happen?
From June 25 to July 10, the "Great American State Fair" will be held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., featuring pavilions from all 50 states showcasing the history and culture of the United States. "Frankly, you'll never see anything like it, and you'll never see anything like it again," Trump promises.
Later this year, in the fall, there will be several sports competitions with representatives from all over the United States.
Trump also promises to build an "Arc de Triomphe" in the United States to mark its 250th anniversary. "We are the only major city, we are the only major capital, we are the only major place without a Triumphal Arch, a beautiful Triumphal Arch, one like in Paris where they have the great, a beautiful Arch," he said, promising that construction would begin soon.
"But all of this is just the beginning," promised President Trump, concluding: "2026 will be a celebration of America like no other, honoring our nation in all of its glory."
