The Italian airport also thanked its employees, the Italian aviation authorities, and the safety agencies for the extraordinary work they do every day: "This achievement is the result of commitment, professionalism, and #teamwork, on the ground and in the air."

Rome Fiumicino Airport, which underwent a major upgrade and renovation, including boarding gates with spectacular digital displays, has been named Europe's best airport several times and ranks among the most connected airports in the world. Today, it continues to grow as a global hub.

The airport concluded its social media announcement with the words "The journey continues," hinting it hasn't had the last word on passenger numbers and future developments.
