It's Official: Athens Airport Sets All-Time Record for Passenger Traffic

In 2025, 34 million passengers passed through Greece's largest international airport, a significant increase over the previous year. There was also a jump in the number of passengers in December and an increase in the number of flights in the past year

All-time record for the number of passengers passing through Athens Airport.

Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni revealed the impressive figures: 34 million passengers passed through Athens International Airport in 2025, marking a new record for Greece's largest airport.

The number represents a 6.7% increase from 2024, when 31.8 million passengers passed through the airport, another record at the time. Domestic travelers maintained last year's figures, with a slight 2.2% increase. The most notable increase was in international traffic, up 8.6% from last year.

In December 2025 alone, passenger traffic increased by 8.4% compared to 2024, reaching 2.31 million, according to data from the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.

5.7% Rise in the Number of Flights

Overall, during 2025, the number of flights at Athens International Airport amounted to 283,589, an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2024. Domestic flights recorded an increase of 1.3%, while international flights recorded an increase of 8.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
