On Its Way to a New Record: Athens Airport Nears 30 Million Passengers in 2025

Greek celebration: the airport in Athens continues to break records, marking an 8% increase in international passenger traffic and 6.5% in total traffic since the start of the year

Athens International Airport continues to grow and reach new records. From January to October 2025, a total of 29.33 million passengers passed through the airport, representing a 6.4% increase compared to 27.58 million during the same period last year.

In the international flights category, 20.99 million passengers passed through the airport in the first ten months of the year, marking an 8.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when 19.39 million passengers passed through the airport. In domestic flights, 8.33 million passengers passed through Athens Airport, representing a 1.8% increase compared to last year.

October 2025 Data

Total passenger traffic reached 3.13 million, up 4% compared to the same month last year. International traffic last month increased by 6.3% to 2.27 million, while domestic traffic decreased slightly by 1.6% to 862,000.

Number of Flights

In the first ten months of 2025, 244,500 flights passed through Athens Airport, signaling an increase of 5.4% compared to the same period last year. Of these flights, 147,866 were international, up 8.6% from the same period last year. The airport also reported stability in domestic flights, with a total of 96,634 flights.

In October alone, 25,203 flights passed through Athens Airport, a rise of 4.5% compared to last year.

The airport ended 2024 with nearly 32 million passengers, representing a 13% increase compared to 2023.
