Work at Sagrada Familia's "Tower of Christ" in Barcelona goes on at a fast pace. In recent days, the fourth horizontal arm of the cross has been installed, following the recent installation of the third arm, and the completion of the lower arm, core and horizontal elements on the facades a few weeks ago.

The arms were designed according to the double-twist geometry implemented by the architect who designed the church, Antoni Gaudí, in the columns and crosses of the Sagrada Familia. They have a square section at the outer end and an octagonal section at the inner end, which connects to the core of the building. Each arm weighs approximately 12.8 tons and measures approximately 4.40 x 4.50 x 4.50 m.

When completed, the cross will rise to a height of 17 meters, similar to the height of a five-story building, and its width will be 13.5 meters.

In keeping with the original design of the building, Gaudí wanted the cross to shine during the day and be illuminated at night. To this end, white glazed ceramic and glass were used, materials that are resistant to weather conditions and have a high light reflectivity.

Lighting fixtures will be installed to illuminate the summit. Inside the cross will be placed the Agnus Dei statue, the work of the Italian artist Andrea Mastobito, in accordance with Gaudi's artistic concept.

The completion of the "Tower of Christ" is expected to be a historic milestone for the Sagrada Familia, especially in light of the centennial of Gaudí's death this year, 2026.

The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is one of the most famous and unique architectural sites in the world. Its construction began in 1882, and, as mentioned, has not been completed to this day, combining Gothic style with organic elements inspired by nature, faith and Christianity. The church is characterized by facades rich in sculptural details, tall towers and deep symbolism, and is still being built to this day based on Gaudi's original plans.

Upon completion, the Sagrada Familia is expected to be the tallest church in the world and one of the most prominent symbols of Barcelona.
