Spanish-Catalan airline Vueling introduced "Rumbo 2035" yesterday (January 14, 2026) in Barcelona. Rumbo is the strategic plan that will accompany its operations in the coming decade, focusing on strengthening the destination network, improving transportation in Barcelona and Spain, and deepening activity in the strategic corridors connecting Spain with the rest of Europe.
As part of Rumbo 2035, the company has committed to a total investment of €5 billion by 2030. The investment includes a first phase of fleet renewal, alongside innovation projects, technological upgrades and the development of a new product for customers. The main goal is to increase the number of passengers from 40 million today to 60 million per year within 10 years.
The company is planning to purchase 50 Boeing 737-MAX aircraft, as announced in August 2025, so it can operate a unified and advanced fleet that will allow for improved operational efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, reduced CO2 emissions and upgraded the flight experience for passengers.
Alongside the operational aspects, the company notes that the plan is expected to significantly strengthen its economic and social contribution to the regions in which it operates. According to forecasts, by 2035 its contribution to Catalonia's GDP will increase by 57% and reach €10.5 billion, while in Spain as a whole, an increase of 65% is expected, with a total contribution of €17.5 billion.
